ETIAS visa for US citizens

Are you an American citizen traveling to Europe for tourism, transit or business from the United States?

What is ETIAS Visa?

ETIAS is the acronym for "European Travel Information and Authorization System". It is an online authorization for travelers visiting the Schengen Area from third countries like the US (amongst other 60 Countries) that does not require a Schengen Visa to enter the EU for a short stay.

The primary reason for the travel requirement is to strengthen safety on borders of the Schengen Area Countries and to decline travelers entering European countries if they are considered as a risk to the security.

The ETIAS authorization system will reveal and handle problems beforehand, screening the details provided by American citizens, and making sure that the travel authorization is granted only after a strict exam of the data in contrast to EU security databases.

The EU ETIAS visa will also enhance the border controls, prevent possible identity and document frauds by granting better protection to the travelers. Thanks to this authorization, the mobility of US travelers in Europe is assured with a higher level of security.

In few words, the ETIAS Visa will provide a faster, and secure, automated way for Americans to travel to Europe with extended security protection.

The EU announced that the European Visa Waiver system ETIAS is estimated to be operative in 2021. From this year, each American Citizen traveling to Europe in a group will need a valid authorization before boarding a ship or an aircraft.
